Case Study

Client:

Kings Head (Cirencester) LLP

Contract Period:

52 weeks

Construction Value:

£3,600,000

WS Project Consulting were project manager on the refurbishment of the King's Head Hotel in Cirencester which presented daily challenges of working in an existing building over 200 years of age. In addition to the age the added factors of working within the constraints of a building with listed building consent, without the usual service routes and a structure of mixed forms of construction all presented challenges to overcome with design and construction solutions that would be accepted by the hotel management group.

The project involved the provision of 45 bedrooms complete with ground floor reception, bar, restaurant, private dining, fully fitted out commercial kitchen, basement bar, wine cellar, function space, spa and fitted out office accommodation within a two storey rear extension. The total gross internal floor area was 3,500m2.

The Client was committed to preserving the historic fabric of the building at every opportunity whilst also providing a fully functional building for its guests and a high class interior. WS Project Consulting were involved in all aspects of the management of the works on site on behalf of the Client whilst liaising with the Vineyard Group and its hotel manager to ensure end user requirements were incorporated into the scheme with practical design solutions.

In addition to this we worked closely with Calico Interiors & Hannah Lohan who were appointed as interior designer on the procurement and installation of all furnishings, fittings and equipment needed for the hotel.

The hotel opened in October 2014 and represents for Cirencester a jewel in its crown within the Cotswolds environment.
