GGR’s brief was to create a Formula 1 looking building to reflect their status within the specialist crane hire business. Gill and Graeme Riley as founders of the business were clear in their brief seeking a warehouse facility to enable them to store, maintain and operate their fleet of spider cranes and other mechanical plant whilst also providing an office for their 60 staff which would be contemporary in its fitting out providing a stimulating work environment.

As you approach the GGR building from its own access road the building looks impressive with its dark cladding mixed with the curtain walling of the office. It has 91 car parking spaces to the left and a service yard of 7,000m2 to the right each with their own designated entrances.

The building has two entrances. The training centre is located in the Ground Floor with dedicated training offices both cellular and open plan. There is a full conference suite with projectors and television screens including a Becker dividing partition. To the right hand side of the building there is the amenity space for staff including locker rooms, toilets and kitchen areas.

The office entrance is accessed through a double height space up a “floating” staircase to the first floor lobby. Straight on to the main office which seats 40 people with cellular full height glass offices for senior management. To the right-hand side of the building at first floor is more office and meeting room space, boardroom kitchen and a boardroom to seat 30 comfortably.

The offices are bright and airy with good natural light complemented by a high quality of interior finish and fit out in kitchens and break out areas. Externally the service yard area is 7,000m2 of brushed concrete with the car parking area in asphalt. There is an extensive landscaping scheme to the entire site.
